Punctuality means you get somewhere on time or do something on time. Punctuality is important so you can show respect and so you can learn what you need to pass a test or something.
I get to Demo practice on time because it shows respect to Master B. S. Lee and my teammates. If I'm late, my teammates will have to review what they already know because I don't know what they do. Also, Master B. S. Lee might feel angry because he would have to review the whole thing over again with everyone. Another reason I get to Demo practice on time is so I can learn what I need to for a performance or tournament.
I get to school on time so I can learn everything I need to. If I'm late to school, I might miss some learning time. Also, I might miss something I enjoy, for example PE.
I turn in my homework on time so when its time to test I know what to do and so I don't get yelled at. I also turn it in on time so the teacher can advise me so I know what to fix.
This is how I show punctuality in my life.

ATLANTA TOURNAMENT :::::::::::::::::::::)))))))))))))))))))) 1ST PLACE
ATLANTA TOURNAMENT
Yaaaaaaaaay!
1ST PLACE
We got first place just recently at Atlanta in demo competition (the first time we've gotten first place while I've been on the demo team). We beat Tiger Kim's. Yaaaaaay! Tiger Kim's got first place the last two tournaments I've been to (the only ones we've gone to while I've been on demo team). I was soooooooooooooooo excited that we got first place and the trophy looks so cool. It was made out of glass.
Our music was timed on six minutes but the others weren't. There's a six minute time limit. If you go over you automatically get zero points. I think a few of the other teams went over the time limit.
During the competition, while we were doing the performance, I felt nervous because it was Master B. S. Lee's birthday and the team wanted to get first place for Master B. S. Lee, and I wasn't sure if we could get it or not. I was also nervous about my kicks because I wasn't sure I would be able to break the boards.
We're waiting for our turn to perform. |
These are the members of the team that went to Atlanta. |
Happy birthday Master B. S. Lee! (P.S. Eri is trying to grab the shirt!) |

Black Belt Life Skill: Ambition
At my black belt test I will be giving a speech about how I use the black belt life skill of ambition. Ambition is when you want to achieve a goal. I use ambition in Tae Kwon Do and math.
Ambition is important because you can achieve a lot. For instance, when I was a white belt I wanted to become a bodan belt. I kept on trying because I wondered what it was like to be a high-ranked belt. Now that I have reached my goal, I am showing ambition by setting a new goal to become a master degree black belt. I want to get a master degree black belt because I will be able to help others with their ambitions in Tae Kwon Do.
I have also shown ambition in math by working hard to learn new things so I can become an engineer. If I become a great mathematician I will be able to become a great engineer. As an engineer I'll need to know how to find the perimeter and area of that I'm building. Also, if you're a computer engineer you need to figure out hoe to fit everything into the computer, and you'd decide if the pieces needed to fit into the computer as an obtuse, right, or acute angle.
Those are some ways I use ambition.

Black Belt Life Skill: Self-Control
One black belt life skill is self control. To me, self control is when you control your feelings. If you don't control your feelings you may start some physical action. You could also start some distraction for others or yourself, or you could make people feel bad about something.
I have shown self control by controlling my temper when I get mad at my sister. To stay calm, I tell myself that if I get angry I might lose temper and hit my sister and she could get hurt.
Another way I have shown self control is when I controlled my excitement during my bodan belt test. I did not want to distract the other testers, audience or judges. I kept my mind on remembering what I needed for my test, like my poomsae.
Sometimes I distract myself with my feelings for example, excitement. One time I distracted myself while I was doing homework on the computer. I distracted myself with nosiness because I wanted to know what my sister was doing on the iPad. I used self control and told myself that if I wanted to have playtime before I had to eat I needed to get my work done.
I have also shown self control when I was told that my classmate had invited me to a birthday party but I will be in Atlanta at a tournament. I felt very disappointed that I couldn't go the party, but I controlled my disappointment by realizing that my classmate will have another birthday next year and I could go to that birthday party.
I hope you use self control too!

Difference between the present and the past
Me about to do a tornado kick as a Bodan belt |
Punching as a white belt: Before and After |
Look at the picture on the middle right. Look at Master Mark in the mirror, his hair is so different now! Kim's White Tiger has totally changed too. There are now white tiger stripes on the wall and the mats are now blue and red. Look at the picture on the bottom right...Grrr, Master B. S. Lee is pretending to fall down! Masters are more silly with young kids, like they pretend to fall down when holding targets. Now that I'm older, the masters don't pretend to fall down when holding targets. I'm glad because they know I'm actually strong, so they take me seriously.
The previous poomsaes I have done and my confidence has grown stronger since I was a white belt. Now I need to do all of the previous poomsaes so I can teach other people how to do them. That's different than before because I was the one who was being taught. Before I didn't need to know all of the poomsaes because I wasn't teaching anybody else. I feel excited to teach others because if I show confidence and show strong poomsaes the people who I'll teach will also have alot of confidence and have strong poomsaes.
My past is way different than now. My confidence and my strength has grown stronger as I get older and spend more time in Tae Kwon Do. I like the present because I am more skilled.

Demonstration Team
DEMO TEAM
We practice a lot for the demo team. We do birthday performances at the Kim's White Tiger studio (where we practice). We do performances at University Mall. Master B.S. Lee (the demo team teacher) helps me with my jumping high snap kick. I practiced so much, I was able to do it as a performance at a birthday party and at University Mall (that's the video below). I am proud that I have learned to do a jumping high snap kick because I will be able to teach other people how to do it.
Sometimes we get hurt, like I did in this video. I put all my weight on the foot I landed on instead of both feet. My foot was literally trembling after I landed. I went off stage before I was supposed to because I didn't want my foot to be seen. Even though it hurt, I ignored it and went on with the performance. Even though we get hurt sometimes we still continue with demo team because we can accomplish a lot. If we practice more before the next time we do it, we won't get hurt.
Around six months after I joined the demo team, my little sister Eri joined demo team because she thought it was really cool. I help her with things that she needs to catch up on because I already know it. She likes the forms I teach her and I like teaching her the forms. I am also starting to practice back handsprings and once I know that I would be very happy to teach her how to improve what she has already accomplished.
